Nora Halpern is a curator, lecturer, and writer on the arts and arts policy. She has over 30 years of experience advising artists, collectors, institutions, corporations, and foundations on collection development, management, strategic planning, acquisitions, deaccessioning, programs, convenings, and estate planning. Nora began her career in Los Angeles as the Frederick R. Weisman Collections Curator, Founding Director of the Museum at Pepperdine University, and Director of Fine Arts for Sotheby’s, West Coast. She has taught art history at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Parallel to her curatorial practice, Nora was, for more than 20 years, a Vice President at Americans for the Arts, where she focused on the intersection of the arts and justice, democracy, health, and other topics. Halpern received her BA and MA from UCLA and is an alumnus of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Independent Study Program in Curatorial Studies.
