About
Betsy Thomas has deep roots in the art world, having worked in the industry for over 25 years. She founded Betsy Thomas Fine Art Advisory, LLC in January 2008. Based in New York, the firm was founded to provide discreet and highly personalized advisory services and appraisals to private collectors as well as to the large community of wealth managers, trust and estate lawyers and family offices. As an art specialist, appraiser, writer and educator, she is passionate about channeling her insights to clients of all types using a critical and informed approach to all aspects of acquisitions and sales.
Credentials
Over a 15-year career in the auction industry at Christie’s in New York, Ms. Thomas held several positions in departments including Old Masters Paintings, Prints, and Impressionist & Modern Art, her longest tenure in the company as Associate Specialist and Vice President in the 19th Century European Paintings Department. She is an adjunct faculty member at Sotheby’s Institute in New York where she teaches courses on Valuation, Art Collecting and Art Advisory.
Ms. Thomas is fluent in Italian.
