Cardiff Dugan Loy

Art Advisory •

Building an art collection requires academic expertise, sound analysis, and a vast professional network of private and public contacts.

For more than 20 years, Cardiff Dugan Loy has been honing these skills so that her clients now enjoy the benefits of her substantial experience.

Loy’s services are geared towards identifying specific collecting objectives. After gaining a full understanding of each client’s area of interest, aesthetics, and budget requirements, Loy then works collaboratively to build a collection that is unique to each client.

Services include locating and evaluating artworks; arranging and guiding clients on gallery visits; liaison with dealers & auction houses regarding both sales and acquisitions; negotiating terms; coordinating and supervising shipping, installation and insurance of art; and general ongoing management of clients’ collections.

Cardiff Dugan Loy holds an AB with honors in art history from Brown University (1989.) After graduating, Loy began her professional career in the arts with a stint in the museum world working at The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. She then furthered her education by gaining an MA in Arts Management from Columbia University.

Upon relocating to Los Angeles in 1994, Loy became the first curator for the private art collection of Hollywood agent Michael Ovitz; as well as for the corporate art collection of his company, Creative Artists Agency (CAA.) She held this position for over seven years, honing her art advising talents by working with the world’s leading museums, auction houses, dealers and galleries.

In 1997, Loy partnered with husband Eric in the founding of CDL, Inc. a private art advisory for clients thoughout the United States as well as internationally.
